Dentures & Denture Repair
Throughout most of human history, people who have lost teeth have just had to live with the situation.
Modern dentistry has provided us with the techniques and expertise to create beautiful, functional dentures for patients who have lost some, or all, of their teeth.
Partial Dentures: You may think of dentures as something that is inevitable for patients who have lost all of their teeth, however, that’s not the only time dentures can be useful. Many patients who’ve lost several teeth in one arch can make use of partial dentures. This type of denture is useful when the patient has lost more teeth than can reasonably be replaced with a bridge. Complete Dentures: This is probably what you imagine when you are thinking of dentures-a replacement of all of the teeth in one arch, on a removable base. These can be fitted for top teeth, bottom teeth, or both, depending on the patient’s needs. Immediate Dentures: As the name suggests, this type is available for use as soon as your teeth have been extracted. There are some benefits of immediate dentures over conventional dentures, one being that the patient does not have to wait for their new set of teeth. A drawback is that when the jawbone heals from the tooth extractions, the fit of the immediate dentures will likely change and need adjustments.
